My style is rather informal, conversational, and experiential in nature.  My goal is to make therapy a safe place for you to discuss your concerns, struggles, and conflicts, as well as your joys, successes, and triumphs.  You may experience a wide variety of emotions within the therapeutic process, and it may seem at times that things are getting worse before better.  However, if you stick with it, the process is designed to equip you and make you stronger to face conflict and bring emotional health to your life and your relationships.   

About Therapy with Children:

     I specialize in working with children. I incorporate play therapy into my sessions with children, and at times, may incorporate therapeutic play as I work with their parents.  I believe that children do most of their emotional work and growth through play and imagination, so you will find that I will encourage this within these sessions.  I utilize a variety of techniques that foster creativity, playfulness, and imagination: Including but not limited to: experiential play therapy, art therapy, the use of music, video, and journaling, as well as playing traditional and therapeutic board games.

About Spritual Counseling:

     I am of Christian faith and I do have background education in theology as well as previous, extensive involement in the church. Though I am of Christian faith, I respect all faiths and feel that a client's spiritual life is an important part of who he or she is. Exploring the specific spirituality and faith of a person is an integral part of that process.  I want you to feel safe in bringing this part of you to your sessions as congruence with your faith and life is important to achieve peace.
